Summit Health is proud to launch a new virtual consultation service for patients who have recently been bitten by a tick and are seeking quick, evidence-based care — without having to leave home.
Whether you’ve returned from a hike, a cottage weekend, or even a city park, tick bites can happen anywhere in Canada. Our virtual tick assessments are designed to provide peace of mind and prevent complications like Lyme disease when addressed promptly.
Who is this appointment for?
This virtual appointment is ideal for individuals who meet all of the following criteria:
- The tick was likely attached for 24 hours or more, or you’re unsure how long it was attached.
- You do not have symptoms of Lyme disease (such as rash, fever, or joint pain).
- The tick was still attached, or you are confident it was a tick.
- You have no known allergy to common antibiotics such as doxycycline.
- You are not pregnant, and do not believe you may be.
If you meet these conditions, you may be eligible for a preventive antibiotic treatment — commonly recommended when Lyme exposure risk is high.
Why book a virtual consultation?
- Quick access to care — no need to wait for an in-person appointment
- Ontario & Quebec patients welcome
- Prescriptions sent directly to your pharmacy
- Guidance on whether you need testing, follow-up, or reassurance
- Convenient, secure, and professional care — all from home
